Let's get to know each other

My name is Genevieve, but you can call me Gen.

I was born and raised in South Africa and immigrated to New Zealand with my family at the age of 16. I spent many years working in the equestrian industry, qualifying as a veterinary nurse and working as a theatre nurse for a specialist equine veterinary hospital in New Zealand. I later qualified as a Registered Nurse and after a wonderful 10-year career in Perioperative Nursing, my first baby was born. It was at this time that I was introduced to newborn photography. Soon, a hobby evolved into a full-blown passion and after two years of photographing friends and family, Figure 8 Photography was born. The name serves as a reminder of my career in the equestrian industry.

After having my own children, I have a whole new appreciation for just how amazing our little babies are, my girls blow my mind with every new skill they learn. I have come to realize that the journey of parenthood is truly bitter-sweet, while it is so exciting to see them grow and reach new goals, I also find myself wishing I could freeze time and hold onto their little hands just a moment longer.
