A note on Newborn Safety

As a Mum myself, I am passionate about Newborn Safety in my studio.

In addition to my nursing training I have completed Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation training, Advanced Life Support Training and I have completed the Newborn Safety in photography course run by the Accredited Professional Newborn Photographers International (APNPI)

Newborn Photography is not a regulated industry and as such there are no safety protocols in place for studios, the APNPI group serves to educate and empower photographers around the world to ensure their clients are kept as safe as possible while in their care.

Newborns are not small adults, their anatomy and physiology is completely different to that of an adult and there are many aspects to consider with regards to their positioning, thermoregulation, sleep and dietary needs.

This is why there are certain poses that I will not perform in my studio, and some poses will be completed as composite images, later edited in Photoshop. This may take longer but it ensures baby is kept safe at all times.
